Israel Tennis Centers National Girls Teams
Through the discipline of tennis the Israel Tennis Centers strive to improve the lives of children in one of the most conflicted regions of the world. By teaching the life skills of self-reliance, perseverance and focus, the ITC fosters sustainable values of self-esteem, character and tolerance, creating a positive imprint on the children, their families, the communities and the world for generations to come.
Within the Israel Tennis Centers, we sponsor the High Performance Girls Tennis Teams. The teams consist of the Top 60 Israeli Female Tennis players at the ITC ranging in age from 10 to 17 years old. The program aims to increase the retention rate of girls in competitive sports, girls drop out of sports at double the rate than their male counterparts. In addition, the program teaches valuable tools such a strong leadership and communication skills that the girls can apply to all aspects of their lives. The program aims to create the future opportunity for girls to play College Tennis in the US, become coaches or professional players. There are very few female tennis coaches in Israel. The creation of strong female leaders is an integral part of the program.
The success of the program is evident in its growth into 6 teams with 60 girls from all over Israel with minimum drop out rate. The success of the tennis program is evident with the girls finishing in top places in the National Israel Tennis Championship in 2014 and 2015. The teams have two National Champions and several girls finished in second and third places in different age categories.
